Lucēre Vision was founded by Dr. Joseph Ling and Dr. Julia Choi to build the kind of practice they'd want to walk into as patients.

Dr. Joseph J. Ling, MD
Dr. Ling is a fellowship-trained refractive surgeon. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds subspecialty certification in refractive surgery from the World College of Refractive Surgery and Visual Sciences.
He has performed more than 10,000 procedures across the current techniques, including more than 1,800 EVO ICL procedures, and in 2022 he performed the first EVO ICL procedure in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is on the faculty of STAAR Surgical's EVO Masters program and received STAAR's Lifetime Achievement Recognition in 2025. He performs every consultation and every procedure at Lucēre himself.

Dr. Julia Choi, OD
Dr. Choi provides the optometric care around your surgery: pre-operative evaluation, post-operative follow-up, ocular surface and contact lens management, and long-term eye health. She earned her Doctor of Optometry at New England College of Optometry and has practiced for more than a decade. She makes sure there is always a clinician here who knows your eyes and your history, before surgery and for years after. Dr. Choi consults in English and Korean.
From your first visit to your last, you'll be cared for by the same team. Dr. Ling does your consultation and your surgery while Dr. Choi and the clinical team look after your care around it.
